I stopped sending Figma links three months ago.

I send a deployed URL. A working prototype on Vercel. A React component already wired to the API. Sometimes a Loom of the thing running on staging.

The deliverable shifted. Static frames used to be proof of thinking. Now they look like an excuse to delay decisions.

The teams I respect right now treat Figma as a sketchbook, not a contract. The contract is whatever runs in a browser. If it does not load, it is still an idea.

This is not about coding skill. It is about closing the gap between intent and reality before an engineer has to guess what you meant.

Is the static design file the new whiteboard photo? Useful inside the room, useless the moment the meeting ends.
