Figma keeps shutting down the vibe coding startups it acquires.

Figma acquired the team behind Bud, a vibe coding and AI agent tool. Both Bud and its predecessor Orchids were shut down within weeks. Users had to migrate their projects out with almost no runway.

This is not the first time. It will not be the last.

Every independent vibe coding tool is racing toward the same two exits. Get acquired by a platform that already owns the surface you build on, or get quietly outcompeted by that platform's native feature. Figma Make exists now. So does Codex and Claude Code integration. The standalone tools were never going to be the endpoint.

I stopped recommending clients build a real workflow around any single AI coding startup a year ago. Not because the tools are bad. Because the tool is a bet on a company surviving long enough for you to get your money's worth out of learning it.
