A polished screen used to prove you knew what you were doing

A polished screen used to prove you knew what you were doing. Now anyone can generate one in twenty minutes with a decent prompt. Visual quality stopped being the signal.

That is a real problem for design leaders, because most of your influence happens in rooms you are not in. A stakeholder forwards a deck. A PM presents your work to their VP. Nobody in that room heard your reasoning, only saw the outcome.

The fix is not a better deck. It is building the decision into the artifact itself. Next to every screen: what we decided, what we bet would happen, what actually happened once it shipped. When the deck travels without you, that structure is the only thing carrying your judgment into the room.

I watched a client's exec team approve a redesign purely on how clean it looked, with zero idea why we made any of the calls inside it. Try it on your next handoff. Attach the decision, the bet, and the result to every screen you send somewhere you will not be.
