The faster the solution appears, the more suspicious I get.

There's a moment in every design session where everything suddenly clicks. A diagnosis that explains it all. A direction that feels obvious. Most designers treat that moment as progress. I've learned to treat it as a warning.

We rush to solutions because solving feels productive. The more problems we close, the more value we think we're delivering. AI makes this worse. Generate options instantly, pick the best one, ship it. The problem is we skipped the hardest part.

You cannot solve a problem you do not understand. Framing it clearly, sitting with it long enough to feel its edges, that is the actual work. The solution is just the output.

Next time a diagnosis appears fast, write down your assumptions before you move. Every single one. Then check how many of them you actually verified.
