1. Introduction
As a product designer, my role at Klarna was to connect and engage with a large audience of over 150 million shoppers, while providing seamless and convenient shopping experiences within the Klarna app. To achieve this, I worked on a comprehensive solution that allowed brands and merchants to effortlessly create and upload engaging content within the app. This included features such as shoppable videos, discoverability, and a uniquely shoppable experience. Through this project, we successfully enabled brands to boost their sales and reach millions of potential customers. Since launching “Watch and shop”, the brands “see an average click-through rate 3x higher than click-through rates of social media platforms.
2. Challenge
The challenge of the Klarna project was to effectively connect and engage with a large audience of over 150 million shoppers, while providing seamless and convenient shopping experiences within the Klarna app. The goal was to utilize short-form shoppable videos and captivating content to introduce brands and products to millions of new users, expand reach on social channels, and ultimately drive sales and understand pain points and drive design decisions, problem validation research was conducted.
3. Solution
To address the challenge, the Klarna team developed a comprehensive solution that included the following key features. • Shoppable Videos: Brands could upload existing content or collaborate with content creators to create short-form shoppable videos. These videos showcased the brand and their products, providing a visually engaging experience. • Discoverability: The Klarna app ensured that the uploaded content was easily discoverable everywhere within the app. This helped brands reach a wide audience and introduce their products to potential customers. • Shoppable Experience: Shoppers could view featured products and save items to their Klarna wishlists directly from the shoppable videos. This made the shopping experience seamless and convenient, increasing the likelihood of conversion. • High Click-through Rates: Klarna shoppers had higher click-through rates compared to traditional social media apps. This resulted in increased sales for brands and merchants.
